"I recommend this debut novel with enthusiasm for its tenderness and courage."

Endorsements for THE LANGUAGE OF BODIES are coming in, and here's the latest:

"Suzanne DeWitt Hall’s seditious and seductive novel “The Language of Bodies” is brilliantly unnerving. Hall’s elegant prose, coupled with her relentless examination of the perils faced by the deepest parts of the human soul, leave the reader breathless. To call it a page-turner is entirely accurate, because the complex central character is driven by loss, love, fear, fury, and desire, even as she works towards her own negotiation with the larger forces of the universe. We become increasingly desperate to know how the multiple plots and intertwined themes will resolve themselves. With grace, with a sense of humble grandeur, and with deft writing, DeWitt Hall manages to give us what very few writers offer: a satisfying yet provocative conclusion. I recommend this debut novel with enthusiasm for its tenderness and courage."

Isn't that absolutely gorgeous?

In addition to teaching literature, Barreca is the author of hilarious, insightful essays and books. She's been a repeated guest on CNN, the Today Show, and even Oprah! I'm absolutely thrilled to receive such a glowing review from this luminary.

First interview about my debut novel!

Yesterday I conducted my first interview about THE LANGUAGE OF BODIES with my publisher, Dave LeGere at Woodhall Press. The discussion centered around the appalling anti-transgender legislation which is popping up all over the nation, and the way the dehumanization of trans people contributes to violence. Check it out to hear more about the book!

Preordering is available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and other retailers!

A very short poem

Resting Face

March 17, 2022

I want to train my face
So it becomes a face
Which finds its rest in smiles.

My novel showed up on Amazon and I'm fainting...

The path to getting a novel published is not unlike a granddad's heroic journey to school: walking in deep snow, uphill, both ways.

It's also punctuated with pops of effervescent joy, as it was today.

My novel is now available on Amazon for pre-order (https://amzn.to/35LtzBy), with the cover reveal coming soon. I'm so excited, and so grateful, especially to Declan, my tireless champion.

It is a very good day.

Breaking the Bias conversation on International Women's Day

I was honored to talk with Maria Leonard Olsen about how my work helps break down bias on International Women's Day for Inside Out LGBT Talk Radio. It was a great conversation, and you can listen to it here:

My novel is happening!

This is a pic of the "first pages" phase of proofing for my first novel, THE LANGUAGE OF BODIES, which launches on October 4 with Woodhall Press. To say that I'm excited is a vast understatement!

I'll never read a novel again without acknowledging the vast amounts of effort that go into it's production. It's exhausting and exhilarating.

I can't wait to get it out to the world, and see what you all think.

October 4. Mark your calendars.
